AGL’s sponsorship of the Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS) ‘Switched on Communities Program’, provided $500,000 in grants to the community sector to share insights and increase energy capability amongst their members.
In recognition of the skills and expertise readily available within the sector, and the need to ensure specifically tailored education for people in vulnerable circumstances, the grants were provided to nine different organisations. Overall, the program reached over 53,000 people across South East Queensland.
Of the programs designed, one of the most successful was run by the Queenslanders with Disability Network to develop and train people with a disability as ‘peer educators’.
Partnerships such as these are a great example of how we can work across sectors, leveraging broad expertise to equip all of our customers to take more control of their energy.
