I am so proud to work for an organisation that supports and encourages its people to give back to the community by giving them a day a year to volunteer with any charity or not for profit they are passionate about.
Over the years I've had the pleasure of volunteering with many great charities like The Smith Family, Cancer Council Australia, OzHarvest, The Salvation Army, St Vincent de Paul, Wesley Mission and many others. No matter how many times I volunteer, I always come away with feelings of humbleness and extreme admiration and awe of the extraordinary work charities do for those in need. The people I've meet through these experiences have inspired me with their passion and dedication for helping others.
Not only do I get to volunteer, I also get to publish stories from our people about their volunteering experiences. The stories I read always put a smile on my face because people are so genuinely overwhelmed with the impact of their volunteering experience and come back to the workforce feeling so grateful and motivated to help others.
In FY17 AGL's people volunteered over 4,300 hours to charities they are passionate about. Read more in our Sustainability report here.
