Last night, two of AGL's senior leaders slept rough in support of St Vincent de Paul Society's CEO Sleepout. Lisa Harrington, Executive General Manager of Stakeholder Relations, and Steve Rieniets, General Manager of AGL Loy Yang, joined over 1,400 CEOs and business leaders to raise awareness and much needed funds for Vinnies to assist homeless Australians.
Lisa shared her experience this morning after sleeping on the ground of the Sydney Cricket Ground:
“I'm feeling so grateful this morning, with a greater understanding that homelessness is not just about not having a roof – that is one small part. It’s the need for a purpose, for love, for connection with a community, and to feel safe, which is everything that Vinnies seeks to provide. We heard some incredibly powerful stories from people who have experienced homelessness – I won’t forget their courage.
"I'm proud of our long-standing relationship with Vinnies and how many AGL people volunteered late last night and early this morning. The organisers needed extra volunteers last-minute and they said AGL always comes through to help.”
Recognising that energy costs can be a cumulative financial stress to those in financial hardship, we developed a strategic partnership with Vinnies, targeting intervention and resource and capacity building to help families and individuals out of hardship.
In support of Vinnies' Home Visitation Program across NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland, we've produced Energy Advice Packs for all Vinnies volunteers to take out to their clients. These packs provide Vinnies clients advice on what energy concessions are available, as well as handy tips and hints on saving energy in their homes.

There's still time to donate to the CEO Sleepout here.
