This Saturday 25 March marks the 10th anniversary of Earth Hour! WWF’s Earth Hour campaign aims to increase awareness of climate change and encourage us all to take action. As Australia’s largest corporate emitter of greenhouse gases, AGL realises the importance of taking action to address climate change.
This year AGL is showing its support for our Energy for Life (EFL) partner WWF Australia, through the promotion of Earth Hour, fundraising events and – of course – switching off AGL signage and non-essential lighting for one hour on Saturday night across our Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide offices.
We have already hosted a morning tea event in Sydney celebrating Earth Hour, discussing how we as a company and as individuals have a role to play in taking action to address climate change, and of course raising funds for WWF Australia. We will be hosting more events through the week, culminating with our lights out in our offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. A great side effect of this fundraising has been the wonderful sense of community that our morning tea provided.
In 2017, it is estimated that one in three Australians will participate in Earth Hour. Join us in turning off your lights this Saturday 25 March at 8:30 pm.
