The Federal Government has today released the report of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) Inquiry into the competitiveness of wholesale gas prices in eastern and southern Australia.
The report can be read here.
AGL recognises the significant effort by the ACCC in the completion of its inquiry into the east coast gas market. The final report provides a comprehensive picture as to the state of the gas market on the east coast. Clearly the market is in a state of transition, with the additional demand of the LNG facilities in Gladstone significantly altering the market. AGL is broadly supportive of the conclusions and will continue to work with governments, as well as policy and decision makers, on the implementation of the ACCC’s recommendations impacting the market.
