Ten AGL employees from both the Distributed Solutions Operations and the Home Services team in New Energy recently volunteered their time and efforts to assist The Salvation Army’s Wyndham City Community Support Services (CSS).

Using their volunteering day of leave provided through the Energy for Life Program (you can read about the background to the program in this paper), they visited the Wyndham City CSS site in Werribee, Melbourne, and painted the outdoor refrigerated containers, cleaned the windows, and gardened the front yard. The Salvation Army kindly provided the team with lunch on the day.

In addition, AGL contributed the supply and installation of a 4kW Solar System (carried out by our installer ‘Solar Age’) and the supply and installations of an air conditioning unit (carried out by our Franchisee ‘RMS’).

In addition to providing the Wyndham City site with a new solar system, air conditioner and tidied site, the AGL team also had the opportunity to gain first hand insight of the installation of a solar system.

Wyndham City CSS provides assistance to people in need in two forms:

  • The provision of financial and material aid to meet an immediate need
  • The provision of a service which assists people with basic advice and advocacy and links them with specialist services

Last year the CSS helped 4,410 individuals in total, assisting an average of 84.8 people per week. CCS
