Yesterday the Queensland Government passed amendments to the Electricity Act 1994 to remove the Queensland Competition Authority's requirement to regulate electricity prices in southeast Queensland from 1 July 2015.

Queensland Energy Minister, Mark McArdle said: “Our key reforms will increase competition in the state’s electricity retail sector – starting in the highly competitive southeast – with better outcomes for customers in terms of choice, service and prices.”

Further information can be found in the Minister's media release.
