The Carbon Disclosure Project’s (CDP) 2013 report for the ASX 200 / NZX 50 was released yesterday.
AGL has been included on the CDP’s Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) for the seventh consecutive year. This index, a key component of the CDP’s annual Climate Change Report for Australia and New Zealand, highlights the constituent companies within the ASX200 which have displayed a strong approach to information disclosure regarding climate change.
Companies are scored on their climate change disclosure, with high scores indicating good internal data management and understanding of climate change related issues affecting the company. AGL’s disclosure score of 87/100 is well above the ASX200 average disclosure score of 67/100 and the average disclosure score of the utilities industry globally (76/100). AGL joins other Australian companies such as Amcor, News Corporation, Woolworths, Qantas and the Commonwealth, Westpac, NAB and ANZ banks.
As well as assessing disclosure, the CDP also ranks companies into performance bands. For 2013, AGL has been assessed as being in performance band ‘B’, which is on par with the performance of the utilities industry globally, and above the average performance band for the ASX200 (performance band ‘C’).
